“Can I really afford a VA?” is probably the second biggest question in our industry. Second only to “So, what is it you actually do?”
But the question has so much more to it than just how much a Virtual Assistant charges per hour.
Firstly, think about what you are doing that can be done by a Virtual Assistant. How much time is this all taking? And, what opportunities are you missing while you do your admin?
If you’re focusing too much on admin and technical tasks, you may not have time for income generating tasks. When you think about it, time is what creates money. Most people don’t make the money they want simply because they don’t have enough time.
Secondly, think about how much YOU charge per hour. Could you make more money in the time that has been given back to you by a VA? How much more? If a Virtual Assistant charges you $40 per hour and you then charge out at $75 for that hour, you are actually making money having a Virtual Assistant.
Then, how long do these tasks take you? A Virtual Assistant is most likely to handle the tasks given to them much quicker than you usually do. If you hand over tasks to a Virtual Assistant that take them 3 hours per week, it is probably going to free up about 5 hours of your time, EACH WEEK.
So, let’s do the math:
3 hours to a VA @$40p/hr -$120
5 hours you can now charge at $75p/hr $375
Even if you decide to take an hour for yourself out of the time your VA has created, you still make a profit of $180. So, hire a VA, take the $180 profit, pick up the kids early and take them for ice-cream, you can afford it!
Other things to note:
- A VA has skills and expertise in areas that you may not. They may even be able to make your business more profitable.
- The right VA has the knowledge to help you scale your business.
- A VA can help prevent overwhelm in your business. They can bring peace and tranquillity so you not only have the time but the headspace to grow your business and give it the attention it needs.
